Ohhhh the Trackside. Welcomed with open arms but left with the feeling it was our time to leave. The initially friendly environment offers Keno, a pool table, an oddly enough very updated CD jukebox....and a bounced check fee.
Overall, cool bar...just don't look straight into the eyes of the two fellows at the end/corner of the bar who seemed to be permanent fixtures there, or you may leave without some teeth.
The locals at the Poop Deck are not shy about one thing: Whiskey. While I was there I was able to sample at least 3 different kinds of Whiskey, play keno, and meet an old friend. Out back behind the Poop Deck, I spotted the old sign that consisted of broken pieces of plastic that has a ship's wheel.
I also spotted the custom printed promotional NASCAR scheduled emblazoned with the Poop Deck's name. I wonder if this location has any relation to the Poop Deck in Hermosa Beach, CA. I guess we'll have to make the trip there to find out.
One could nearly spend a lifetime documenting all of the Strange Bars in Omaha NE. The Nifty Bar & Grill on NW Radial Hwy was once the king of all Dive Bars in Omaha. Since a recent change in ownership the Nifty has tuned up it's image considerably
75 cent drafts of Old Milwakee have been replaced by beer buckets. They now have an outdoor smoking patio for the most regal of guests.
You can bet your ass that they still have Jerry Jeff Walker playing "On the Cover of the Rolling Stone" on a near hourly replay.
